The Battle of Lincoln Fair 1217: William Marshal by Professor David Crouch
Professor David Crouch makes a special appearance at Lincoln Castle to give a lecture on the 1217 Battle of Lincoln and William Marshal.
David Crouch is an Welsh historian and published academic, and Professor of Medieval History at the University of Hull. Publications include William Marshal: Court, Career and Chivalry in the Angevin Empire 1147-1219 (1990), and Lost Letters of Medieval Life: English Society, 1200-1250 (2013).
This event is in support of the exhibition "Battles and Dynasties" at The Collection and Usher art Gallery which examines with a rich collection of artefacts, documents, portraits and arms, the dynastic struggles in the Country over the Centuries including this most important of medieval battles - the Battle of Lincoln Fair 1217.
Admission includes access to the event, light refreshments, and an exclusive opportunity to view Lincoln's Magna Carta and Charter of the Forest in the David P J Ross Magna Carta Vault at Lincoln Castle.
Times: 7pm doors open, 7.30pm – 9pm
